Tips for Large Bathrooms: What to Do to Make it Homier and More Comfortable

If you have a large bathroom, then you are luckier than most people in Britain ? the area is notoriously famous for its relatively smaller bathrooms, and this can often pose some problems. Consider yourself lucky, therefore, if you have large square footage which you are able to fill up as you please and lets you move around freely whilst performing your necessities or relaxing at the end of the day.

However, having a large bathroom does bring about its own little problems (if we can be so bold as to call them problems). Filling a certain area is always easy, but furnishing a large area in such a way that we can be proud of it is often a different matter. Here are some tips for large bathrooms: what to do to make it homier and more comfortable.

Check the overall colour

Monotone colour schemes have a tendency to make a room look larger than it actually is ? so if you have a lot of space available, you want to do the opposite. Break up the monotony. Choose coloured tiles, for example, and see if you can paint a certain area of the room (even if it's just one wall) a different colour.

Add corner cupboards

Corner cupboards ensure you fulfill two purposes: they will provide you with some extra storage space, and they will give the impression that the space in the bathroom has been put to good use; they will somehow complete the space that is still available.

Stay away from modern items

The way modern fixtures and items are designed do not lend itself to reducing the feeling of spaciousness ? on the contrary, they are often designed with space-efficiency in mind. Rather, go for more classical designs, even with whirlpool baths, shower enclosures, and the like.

Add furniture

Many bathrooms simply don't contain an armchair or bench because of lack of space ? and because this is so often the case, we sometimes feel that the seating arrangement would not fit well in the bathroom. Nonsense; a seat is practical and beautiful.

Fix your lighting

Try to mimic the brightness of daylight in your bathroom ? and install different kinds of lights in different areas to create separate areas within the room.

One other thing to do ? and this works very well in every large room, especially the bathroom ? is to make sure that the area is comfortably covered with carpets and rugs that make the whole place much cosier than it would be without. You can place large rugs in the centre of the room and smaller versions near your vanity and tub or shower area. Also, adding beautiful tropical plants enliven the atmosphere and bring in nature.
