Sharing one bathroom with the entire family can be complicated at times. Different people have different needs, children have different needs than adults, men have different than women. It can seem hard and complex to make sure each member of the family has enough time to do everything they need to do, especially when everybody has to get ready at the same time. But there are some things that you can do with your bathroom that will improve life a little. A few simple adaptations can make your life a lot easier and help speed things up. So how do you create that perfect family bathroom?
Having two basins
Most bathrooms have a single basin for people to use to wash their hands or brush their teeth. When you have a big family, having a single one can really slow things down ? and starting your day with a ?traffic jam? even before leaving the house will test your patience. Adding a second basin, or a sink with two taps, can be a true blessing in a situation like this. There are some available that are small and suitable for smaller bathrooms.
A medicine cabinet
When you have small children in the house, a medicine cupboard with a lock is a must. Children are curious by nature and you don't want your kids getting their hands on your medication. When your children are bigger, a medicine cabinet can still be of use, creating some extra space to store things.
The bathtub
If you have multiple children, a bathtub with a central tap fixture can be very useful. Whirlpool baths of this type allow you to give a bath to two children at the same time whilst having fun, hopefully allowing you to get them to bed faster and have some much needed time left to relax or perhaps take a nice long bath yourself.
A shower and a bath
In a big enough bathroom you can choose to have a bathtub as well as a shower. Not only is it nice to have the choice between showering and taking a bath, when you are in a hurry it's also good by allowing several family members to get ready at? the same time.
Cupboards
With a big family comes a large amount of different personal hygiene products. Without adequate storage space, your bathroom will soon fill up with a large amount of bottles, tubes, cups, etc. Building plenty of cupboards allows you to keep your bathroom organised and easier to clean.
