Tiles or Panels – What is Best of Your Shower?
If you are redesigning your bathroom – or even just the shower area of your bathroom – you need to think about the backing to the shower as much as the tray and the other fittings. You may find yourself torn between a tiled backing or shower wall panels. Let’s take a look at some of the things you need to think about, and what could be the best option for you.
Easy Installation
If you are looking for something that is easy to install, you can never go wrong with shower wall panels. Though they will need time to acclimatise, the installation is quick and easy after that. It might be a lot easier than trying to tile an entire backsplash.
Tiles look great but there is no doubt that they can be fiddly to install. The smaller the tile, the more time it will take. By opting for a mosaic-style shower wall panel instead of full mosaic tiling, you could get the look you want and have it up, sealed, and on the wall in a much shorter length of time.
Cleaning
Grout can be incredibly difficult to clean. There are so many guides on the internet that try to give helpful tips to help you clean the grout between tiles but not all of them can produce the best results. Even if you are a meticulous cleaner, you can often still find that the grout is more problematic than you would like.
On the other hand, a shower wall panel is as easy to clean as anything else you could put in your bathroom. Rinsing it down after the shower has been used is all that is needed for daily maintenance. However, you will also find that it benefits from a quick clean every week or so using a non-scratch bathroom-friendly cleaner.
Cost
Though many of us wish we could have an unlimited budget to transform our bathrooms with, that is so often not the case. You need to make sure that you have everything you need for the bathroom, but suites can be expensive, and it can often be the decorations that take a price hit instead.
Luckily, shower wall panels are very affordable. If you need something on a budget, they will often prove to be a fantastic choice – especially when compared to tiles. Usually, you need around two or three panels to fully protect a shower. Depending on the area and the size of tiles, this could be a much more expensive purchase. This is before we even factor in the cost of adhesive, sealant, and labour. More often than not, shower wall panels are a better option in terms of price.
There is no denying that tiles look very prestigious and will always bring something special to a bathroom. However, if you have a few restrictions in place, there is no denying that shower wall panels might be a better option for you.
