How to Set the Scene for the Most Relaxing Shower Experience Ever

Everyone enjoys the shower in different ways. You'd be surprised by the routines people usually have, and how stubborn those routines actually are. These habits come about, of course, by repeated use of the shower, and the circumstances you are usually in. A person who takes a quick shower every morning doesn't think about how he or she is doing it; it has become mechanical. Showering on a lazy Sunday morning or a Friday evening after work will probably be longer and more enjoyable, but you'll find the same habits taking over after a few minutes. Your routine may be efficient but limits you when it comes to the real joy of showering. Here's how to set the scene for the most relaxing shower experience ever.

Mood

It's amazing how much one'single change in the environment can make a big difference. Here we challenge you to make several. Firstly, dim the lights. You don't really need all that brightness. Secondly, light some candles. You can opt for aromatherapy. Finally, put on some relaxing music. Changing the mood of your environment will automatically do wonders for your psyche.

Preparedness

Think of what you need whilst taking a shower: your soap, shampoo, conditioner, all the bottles and tubes and cloths necessary. Think also of when you step out of the shower: a towel that's within reach, a rug on the floor, your slippers nearby, your worktop or vanity ready. Have everything at hand to make the experience smooth and seamless.

Time

Some may find it'strange and a bit'silly to write it down in your organiser, but go ahead and try it: take your planner and mark: Me-time. Set some extra time aside if your shower usually lasts ten minutes, make it twenty this time. And inform your family that you are going to take a shower and do not wish to be disturbed. Take it'seriously and put some extra private time aside.

Get the chores out of the way

The act of cleansing yourself isn't a chore, exactly but it requires some attention, so it's always handy to get that out of the way as soon as you step into the shower. Once that's done, you can relax, enjoy the water (at its perfect temperature) and let your mind wander.

Another great way of giving that'shower an extra helping of luxury is by working out before the shower. Your exercise routine will give you plenty of benefits: when you're tired, sweaty, or both, your body simply craves to be surrounded by hot water (and steam  perfect in a steam shower) and your brain will send you more feel-good signals when the water hits your nerves. The more you need that'shower, the more enjoyable it will be when the time comes.
