Essential Factors to Remember for the Proper Cleaning and Maintenance of Your Bath
There's no doubt that enjoying the luxury of a hot bath after a hard day's work is one of life's simplest yet most superior pleasures ? and it goes without saying that this can only be enjoyed to the fullest if your tub is clean and sparkly. Due to the basic nature of the bath, the tub can get oily and greasy very quickly, but with a little bit of regular maintenance, it's easy to ensure your bath is always ready to be enjoyed to the fullest. Wondering how the bath can be kept as good as new with just a few easy steps? Here are the essential factors to remember for the proper cleaning and maintenance of your bath.
You need to be committed
A little bit of prevention can stop a very large cure, so after using the tub, make sure you rinse it thoroughly to remove any soap scum that would otherwise have a chance to build up. A simple three minute rinse with a sprayer can prevent a large chore later on. Once rinsed, wipe the surfaces with a soft cloth to dry.
The miracle of vinegar
Vinegar is a mild acid and does not harm the surface of your bath. It does, however, break down any scum that is left behind, and also destroys any possible residue of calcium that is found in your water. A solution of vinegar and water (ratio of 1:1) left on the surface and rinsed away after about 15 minutes does miracles.
Baking soda is wonderful
For heavier and more stubborn stains, you can use baking soda. Add some baking soda to the vinegar/warm water solution and let the solution bubble for a while after you've applied it to the more stubborn stains.
Create your own paste
If you've got really harsh stains, use a paste of two parts baking soda and one part hydrogen peroxide. Rub the paste on the stain and let it rest for 30 minutes to an hour. Rub the paste away and rinse after that ? repeat if necessary.
The steps above will ensure that you can keep your bath ? whether it's an alcove bath or freestanding bath, or any other type of bath ? as clean as possible. However, it's also important to know what not to do. For example, never use a steel wool sponge or a brush with hard bristles, as this can cause scratching. Also, never mix chemical cleaning products ? bleach and ammonia, for example, can cause toxic fumes and burn your skin. And last, but certainly not least, don't ever use the bath without making sure all the chemicals have been property rinsed away. It's all about protecting your family, after all. Cleaning your bath is easy ? but it'should be done the right way.
