10 Ways to Style Your Freestanding Bath
10 ways to style your freestanding bath
The luxury of a freestanding bath is an “end goal” in many of our lives. Some even consider it up there with getting a hot tub in the garden and a boiling water tap in the kitchen.
As leading specialists in luxury bathroom furniture, we’re lucky to see a lot of bathrooms. One thing that always catches our eye, is how different interior styling can give freestanding baths completely contrasting looks depending on the accessories used.
For this reason, we’re bringing you 10 ways to style your freestanding bath - to give you some inspiration and help switch things up next time you fancy a change.
- A bath tray
One of the most important accessories for any bath lover is a bath tray. This will be the stage for many of the accessories mentioned throughout this article. Not only is a bath tray perfect for showcasing your new pieces of homeware, but it’s also a really great location to place your essential things whilst you’re having a soak (we’re talking books, body creams and let’s not forget about your wine glass!).
Although your tray may be able to house a lot of your accessories, you may like to switch your things every few weeks to give a minimalist effect and avoid overloading and cluttering your freestanding bath!
- An apothecary jar
This is just a curved glass jar with a lid that you can fill with whatever you like, then place it elegantly on your bath tray. You could opt to fill it with epsom salts, cotton buds, bath bombs or even chocolates for some bath time indulgence. Apothecary jars usually have stunning rounded edges that compliment both modern and traditional freestanding baths perfectly.
- Fresh eucalyptus
Many people believe that hanging eucalyptus above your showerhead will make for some effective aromatherapy. However, for your freestanding bath, you may just wish to get some fresh eucalyptus in a vase and display it on your bath tray. Eucalyptus is supposed to be a powerful treatment against respiratory issues, but also has the added element of smelling great!
- Your favourite candle
What’s a bath without a relaxing scent? Whether you’d prefer a candle burner with wax melts, or a flickering candle that makes a noise resembling a burning log fire, this is a classic choice of bathroom accessory.
Just be sure you’re careful and always blow the candle out before you leave the bathroom. And if you’re not a fan of an open flame, you could try a reed diffuser.
- Your bath must-haves
Whether you can’t do without your long wooden body brush, or your favourite bottles of scented bath oils, these things can make for an attractive bath tray display. For everything else you don’t want to leave out on display (such as bottles of shampoo and conditioners), you can pack them away in a dedicated box which is stored in one of your bathroom cupboards.
- A bath mat
A bath mat can be more than just a piece of material to save your floor from getting wet. If picked and styled carefully, it can make for an essential part of your bathroom styling plans. Drape it over your freestanding bath, or strategically place it on the floor; either way, it’s almost certain to add something to the overall feel of your bathroom.
- A statement mirror
Choosing to add a bold, statement mirror to the wall behind your freestanding bath can help your bath take centre-stage, and give the overall room more of a focus. Statement pieces such as this don’t tend to be easy to choose though, so you’ll probably find yourself searching until the perfect mirror comes up.
- Hanging pendant lights
What makes for the perfect bath time, other than your freestanding bath and favourite scent? Mood lighting. Opting for hanging pendants above your bath is a big statement and makes sure your bath is (privately) in the spotlight.
- A nearby chair
Surprisingly, chairs/stools are commonly found in bathrooms - although more for decorative effect than for practical use! A bathroom chair is another platform where you can place accessories, so you can make sure your freestanding bath isn’t overcrowded.
- A place to keep towels
The first thing you’ll reach for after getting out of the bath? Your towel. Don’t make yourself have to travel too far for it - it’s both inconvenient and a slip hazard. A few stylish options for displaying your towels nearby include opting for a decorative wooden chair; a decorative ladder; a small stool; or, you know, an actual towel rail!
